Vintage Working Day and Ploughing Match 2015

Lovely words from St Catherines……

We are in awe of a phenomenal fundraiser which has smashed all its previous records by topping £11,000 for Saint Catherine’s in a single day.
A day of family fun down on the farm has come tantalisingly close to reaching the £10,000 milestone in the past – but this year it crashed through with £1,000 to spare.
We are so grateful to organisers Terry Oakley of Oakley Plant and Eddie Brown whose family owns land in Cayton Bay where the Vintage Working Day and Ploughing Match is held. What a stunning achievement.

We just wanted to say a BIGÂ THANK YOU again to everybody that helped, everybody that donated and everyone that came on the day.

What an amazing total!! We are very proud of what we have all achieved together this year.

Vintage Working Day and Ploughing Match 2015

Piece in the paper this week July 2015……

Vintage tractors are revving up ready for a big event which has become a phenomenal fundraiser for Saint Catherine’s. What started 17 years ago as a simple ploughing match has grown to become an event so popular that it has raised almost £30,000 for the hospice over the last three years alone. And this year’s Vintage Working Day and Ploughing Match is set to be another big crowd puller with free entry and lots of attractions including shire horses, vintage tractors and cars, birds of prey and children’s rides. The event is organised by Terry Oakley, of Oakley’s Plant Ltd, and Eddie Brown, whose family owns the land in Mill Lane, Cayton Bay, where the event is held.

Terry’s wife, Molly, said: “A lot of hard work goes into it but we’ve got some wonderful helpers. “Once you’ve been to the hospice, you see why it’s so important to help,” Molly said. “It’s a lovely, lovely place and the care is wonderful.” This year’s event on July 25 starts at 9am and highlights will include a vintage tractor road run at 10am, a motorbike stunt show, working shire horses, a threshing display, tractor pull, hog roast and pony rides. There will also be a big auction, stalls and exhibits. Lots of stallholders have already booked to attend but the organisers would welcome more and would also like to hear from anyone who could add to the range of displays.
